MIND
Comprehensive Holistics theorizes that in Western science Mind can be thought of as consciousness, and the processes that are hardwired in the human brain somehow give rise to a consensus-driven definition of the totality of human perception, which can be called the human worldview. Human egocentrism dictates that only humans are conscious beings. To deny the mysterious presence of consciousness in other species and life forms that inhabit this planet is sheer folly. If any of us had the power to fully transition from our various human worldviews into the worldviews of any lifeforms and species inhabiting the earth we would find that consciousness is not solely the property of the human mind.
SELF-AWARENESS
In defining terms such as consciousness and the concept of self-awareness, comprehensive holistic theory excludes human egocentrism. Each major species of organic life is self-aware. Each has a defined worldview. The extent to which consciousness and self-awareness are combined determines the degree of self-awareness a given species exhibits. The laws of Nature for planet Earth need to be defined carefully to exclude human egocentrism. Each major (macro) and minor (micro) species of organic life are self-aware to varying degrees. Science cannot conclude that humans possess the highest form of self-awareness or the only form of self-awareness. Has experimentation, borne out of a theoretical framework defining self-awareness, been perfected and verified to prove this? Assumptions by science and a diverse variety of theological ideologies that are based on human egocentrism currently rule our perceptions of consciousness and self-awareness. In the same way that the history of life on this planet has to be updated and rewritten to accept a more enlightened and accurate accounting, it is time to put aside our present notions of consciousness and self-awareness and serve a higher purpose in accepting that all organic lifeforms and species have some measure of consciousness and self-awareness. Many species of animals have language specific to the needs of their respective communities. Language implies community. Logic dictates that communal species, such as animal 'tribes' so to speak, have consciousness and self-awareness.
In an effort to consider that consciousness and self-awareness are forces that are ubiquitous among organic life consider the following:
Consciousness is evolving, even as some human parasites are infecting the Earth. The growing awareness that Nature has cycles is proven science. Human industry that clings to demonstrably destructive habits is becoming a catalyst for the acceleration of our current cyclical period, one that may be devastatingly destructive to life on this planet. Global warming and cooling are cyclical in Nature. Science must address the results of these natural cycles and humans must adapt to forces of Nature in order to enhance the survivability of life in its magnificent variety on this ripe fertile planet. Consciousness and self-awareness must combine to address and adjust the relationship that humans have with our benefactor of life, our Earth and its inhabitants. The issue is whether the human race can establish a new symbiotic relationship with our shared species and our home planet, or will parasitic human endeavors continue to decompose the balance of forces that have sustained life on this earth for more than millennia?
SOUL
In terms of current Western ideology mind and soul are interchangeable terms. The presence of a human soul has been relegated to fringe science. Since mainstream science focuses on experimentation and verifiability to prove a substantial acceptance of the presence of a Soul , there is no established recognition of the presence of a soul.
"The current consensus of modern science is that there is no evidence to support the existence of the soul when traditionally defined as the spiritual breath of the body. In metaphysics, the concept of "Soul" may be equated with that of "Mind" in order to refer to the consciousness and intellect of the individual."*

A holistic concept of Soul in Theology
"In theology, the soul is further defined as that part of the individual which partakes of divinity and often is considered to survive the death of the body. ... Many cultures have recognized some incorporeal principle of human life or existence corresponding to the soul, and many have attributed souls to all living things."
